Welcome, and thank you for visiting Karen Creed Counselling.
I am a gentle, calm, and fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in the Wokingham, Berkshire area. I offer both in-person and online therapy sessions for adult individuals aged 18 and over, and am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
My journey into counselling began during a particularly challenging period in my own life, when I sought therapy and experienced first-hand the positive impact of being truly heard and understood. Talking through my difficulties helped me gain a deeper understanding of myself and my patterns of thinking, allowing me to make meaningful changes and live more fully.
This experience inspired me to train as a counsellor so that I could offer others the same opportunity; a safe supportive space to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement, and to work towards greater self-awareness and emotional wellbeing.
I am so glad you are here. Taking the first step toward seeking support can feel daunting, but it is an act of courage and self-care. My goal is to provide a safe compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences, and find meaning ways forward to attain personal growth.
Whether you are navigating stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, loss, or simply feeling "stuck," counselling can help you gain clarity, resilience, and a renewed sense of direction. Together we will work at your pace, in a non-judgemental confidential environment, to discover what you need most right now.
Every person is unique, and so is every journey through therapy. That's why I work using an Integrative Approach, which means I draw on different therapeutic models to suit your individual needs, rather that a "one-size-fits-all" method. By combining ideas and techniques from several approaches, we can work together in a way that feels most meaningful and effective for you.
At the heart of my work is a person-centred foundation, which is built on empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard, creating a warm non-judgemental space where you feel truly heard and understood.
The Psychodynamic element helps us explore past experiences that may be influencing your present thoughts, emotions and behaviours. By increasing awareness of these unconscious processes, you can begin to make sense recurring themes in your life and develop self-understanding and emotional freedom.
CBT can help you manage unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours in the here and now. Together, we can identify negative thinking patterns, challenge self-critical beliefs, and build healthier coping strategies that empower you to create positive change.
Some of the issues we can address together may include:
